Second Mockup and Final Refinements

 Second Mockup and Final Refinements

Hello! in this blog I will be talking about the mockup's making process & progress.  The physical version of the mockup was built using 3D printed parts and thin plastic sheets. The goal of this 1:6 mockup was to test the concept and form in the physical world. Many iterations were done before building this mockup, such as adding three thinner supports to maintain balance and save material. (Figure 2) Two small fans were attached facing opposite directions to create air circulation in the small mockup. Supplied by a 12v power adaptor and a 9v power adaptor to provide a decent amount of power to each small fan. (Figure 3) I tested the air circulation concept with the two fans and recorded the process. I used smoke since it flows in the air and can be seen easily. My success meter was for the smoke to be cleared from the mockup in a short time, since the smoke is cleared that would mean that the air has changed and recycled, which happened 16 seconds later after the fans were activated in (Figure 4). In the real product, the air being circulated will also be purified and disinfected. However, the test met the goals that were set.

Finally, based on the research, it is possible to conclude that there is a need for a product such as Safe Space. Given the product's construction capabilities and material costs, it can also be said that it can be manufactured at a slightly expensive cost. Overall, the product produces no harmful gases and eco-friendly, but would require maintenance. In the present state of the Coronavirus pandemic, Safe Space may prove to be an effective tool in connecting people physically again safely while limiting the virus spread.
