Studying Product Design (online)
Let me start with a fact, I've never written a blog before. So writing this for the first time feels a little hard but I've researched a little on how to write a blog and I read that I should start with an interesting introduction. Guess you should be interested now to read my first ever blog!
A little info about me since it's my first blog
Well, My name & where I'm from is written up there on the top left. I will keep my age a mystery just for fun.
Okay, some real info: I study product design BA (Hons) in APU in Malaysia. currently, I'm in my home country due to the pandemic, studying online. let me just say that my day is completely reversed during the week due to the time difference; Malaysia is 6hrs ahead of Egypt. This means I have to sleep at day and wake up at night to attend the 2:30 AM Classes. I adapted already to the different lifestyle. that's one thing you know about me now, I can adapt to different situations.
The most interesting thing I'm studying so far!
I have different modules and subjects, I enjoy all of them. But there's one module where I have to study and solve a problem. I chose Sleep Disorders/Insomnia. I love psychology so that's the reason why I'm interested in this topic. Not only I've encountered this problem before a lot in my life but more than 50% of adults have experienced Insomnia at least once!
I'm currently at the research phase, I just love reading about how the mind works and reacts to specific actions. I struggle from getting lost in research and not looking at the big picture. I've learned more about how to maintain focus while researching and when to stop later on. I will share some with you!
Tips to focus while studying and not to waste time:
1. First u got to find a suitable environment (not to do so on the bed for example)
2. Set research goals ( these comes from mindmap & keywords)
3. Make a Gantt chart or a timetable for studying
4. Learn to hold yourself from distractions and know when to stop
5. Always keep in mind your priorities!
6. Write notes and update the mindmap to check if you on the right track
7. Take a step back every once in a while to look at the big picture.
8. Take breaks! be easy on yourself :)
These are some of the things I considered and helped me. There are more tips and methods to improve your focus. Just remember, self-help is key. No one will stop you from doing what you want, but you will be the one to face the consequences if you didn't hit your target.
Hope you learned something new and looking forward for your comments! I will end this now with a quote that inspires me.
"If you are going to fail, you'd rather fail early than fail late in general."
